Web-Walk started as a SOHO business in Bombay (now known as Mumbai). I partnered with some SEO experts, a web design firm and hired a couple of programmers to cater to small and medium businesses in the city. It was indeed a learning experience, not only as an entrepreneur but also in terms of discovering the immense need of web-development and online marketing with SMEs. Below are some projects that I headed with a brief stating what I accomplished:
At FAI, I worked with the a Joomla developer and the association’s in-house marketing team to build the website on an open-source content management platform. We sourced news content using Google News and Google Alerts and developed processes to make the website a news portal for franchisors and franchisees. In the backend, we installed a mass-mailing application that could keep FAI’s thousands of members abreast the latest activities and events.
‘Indian Festivals’ is a website I developed from scratch to experiment with W3C standards and clutter-free web design. It’s based on a very simple template and is search-engine friendly. Majority of its visitors find the website through Google search queries such as ”indian festivals info”, “indian festivals information” and other queries related to the festival names.
Elevator Focus is the pioneer in publishing a news magazine focussed on the vertical transportaton industry in India. We helped this company come up on the first search results page for ‘elevator magazine’ on Google India.
I’ve been associated with Rotaract Club of Mumbai Ghatkopar since before I started Web-Walk and have seen the website evolve from a flashy static website to a highly-interactive website that allows members to submit reports online - as it is right now. Earlier, Web-Walk built the website on a search-engine friendly theme with an intuitive design and followed all W3C standards.
Built on an open-source clutter-free theme, this website is built as the face of a budding architect on the internet.
I came up with the Web-Walk Business Cards idea when I realized that there is still a large pool of businesses in India that yet do not have any kind of presence on the World Wide Web. Business Card websites was a simple, straight-forward way to put a domain-name on their business cards and to start promoting to their potential customers (often importers) outside India!
