Next revolution in handheld devices: Ipod for books?

Amazon Kindle

Amazon recently launched the Amazon Kindle. Essentially, it’s a handheld device which you can use to read all your electronic books on a digital screen. No, not just books, but even magazines, blogs, newspapers and Wikipedia! Yes, the world’s largest database of knowledge (If I’m not wrong) is available at your fingertips. What’s more? Every Kindle user can connect to Wikipedia using the Whispernet technology which lets you connect to Wikipedia whenever you want - without having to connect to the internet externally.

Using the same technology, one can connect to the Amazon Kindle store and purchase their e-books or subscribe to magazines. This technology is supposedly similar to the GPRS connection on your cellphone.

It boasts an electronic-paper screen that is made of ink-particles which makes reading just as you were reading an ordinary newspaper or a book.

Amazon Kindle looks great! Imagine holding more than 200 books on that device that hardly weigh 12 ounces (340 gm). It has a QWERTY keyboard too so that you can use the built-in dictionary to look up words while you are reading!

No, this isn’t a sales pitch, but I really think this product is amazing and revolutionary! :-)

Let’s see how it fares in the American market. Time will tell.

(Err.. yes, it’s just available in USA. As of now.)
