Do something…Go places
Long time back, sitting in a coffee shop, a friend and I sat down to write an article for a local club’s newsletter (read: http://www.rotaractmumbaighatkopar.org ). Well, my friend, currently studying at UC Irvine, California. One of his personal pursuits: an attempt to host Punjabi hip-hop/Pakistani music and other podcasts is here: http://www.chutneyradio.com
This was one of my first write-ups after which I really got the hold of it. (or that’s what I think
). I’m sure you will love reading this one…
There are six billion people on this earth , you are just an average statistic and unless you do something about it, the Prime Minister will not come to your funeral Shantaben changes her grandson’s diapers…Maganbhai gives advice to his son on how to deal with something really UGLY !!!
Forty years down the line, can you see yourself in their shoes?
You are given just one human birth (No matter how much you believe that you professor is Hitler reincarnated). Reading this at a coffee shop, cellphone in hand and gossiping with your girlfriend ain’t gonna get you any brownies in life!! And you ain’t getting any younger….
So sit back, put the coffee down, switch off your cell phone, get rid off your girlfriend and READ!!!
The point is, without a purpose, your life is like a cell phone without a sim-card. Grow some wings and fly like there’s no tomorrow; dance like no ones watching. Make the most of your life. Eat breakfast in New York, Lunch in London, Dinner in Paris…Be adventurous (that doesn’t mean trying pizza at an Udipi). Work a summer onboard a Cruise ship; serve coffee at Central Perk. Explore places. You only have 50 years left with money to make; kids to raise; love your wife; taking care of your family; tip the waiter who just served you a steaming Latte ;)!
Unless you want to be like Shantaben or Maganbhai, sit back, relax and think about you want to dedicate your life to in the next 50 years. Get realistic. Think about….more importantly…know about your strengths and weaknesses, your goals and aspirations….YOUR DREAMS!
Shantaben dreamt of fame, Maganbhai dreamt of money. They both watch “Kyunki…” and discuss “KKussum” before sleep. The point is - Don’t go behind money or fame. They won’t get you anywhere. Hard work and perserverance will! Work towards your goal. Have a concrete plan in hand. Pursue it. And have an element of class when you do it. Get the best and forget the rest.
Shantaben read this and so did Maganbhai. Shantaben now heads a Mahila Mukti Mandal. Maganbhai now runs an orphanage. They have figured out their lives….HAVE YOU?
do something, go-getter, going places, gujarati mentality, sipping coffee....
